Exhibition at Annual Teaching & Learning Seminar of USM CDAEeLC Services were invited by USM's Centre for Development of Academic Excellence (CDAE) to participate in an exhibition in conjunction with their Annual Teaching and Learning Seminar on 26th June 2012.
The CDAE was established on 1st Jan 2012 with the aim of enhancing the quality of teaching and learning towards achieving excellence in line with the National Higher Education Strategic Plan and National e-Learning Policy initiated by Ministry of Higher Education.
Various guest speakers from within and outside the country gave their talks and presentations. Exhibition of available software supplies of e-learning tools currently in the market were also showcased during this one day seminar. The theme for this year is "Create and Widening Access to Knowledge". This one day seminar was organized for all USM Lecturers and Teaching Staff from all their different faculties, from all branches of USM campuses from different localities within Malaysia.
On 18th April 2011 at Bangi, Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin who represents the Higher Education Ministry stated that they expect all institutions of higher learning (IPT) in the country to optimize e-learning by 2015 while also strengthening the concept of life-long learning. And e-Learning is one of 23 Critical Agenda Projects (CAPS) under the National Higher Education Strategic Plan. And they hoped that all IPTs by then should have 30% or more of their curriculum in mixed mode of face-to-face and online. The General OVERALL STATISTICS OF eLearn@USM USAGE AMONG LECTURERS shown in their program book clearly indicates that they are already above that 30% mark and heading towards 45%. Hence their main purpose of this seminar is to bring forth further exposure to the lecturers and highly encourage them to use technology in their teaching, specifically e-Learning.
As part of eLC's continuous efforts in bringing fresh and innovative technology in teaching and learning, we were delighted to have this privilege to touch base with the seminar participants and to showcase some of our latest digital content and mobile learning products during this exhibition.
Our booth received numerous seminar participants who were highly interested in exploring our latest product and technology. Overall the seminar was great and we will come back again next year. eLC were represented by Mr. Ryan Foo, eLC COO, Mr. Noel Chia, Consultant and Mr. Jason Queck, Business Development Asst. Manager at this exhibition.
